E-4 Specialist Mohamed Eissa, a Muslim U.S. military veteran and a N.A.T.O. Medal recipient will speak at a Redmond mosque open house

on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Admission to the event is free and open to the public at 18001 NE 76th St., Suite 105 in Redmond. The open house is part of a series of monthly open houses hosted by Muslim Association of Puget Sound (MAPS) and organized by its Interfaith and Outreach Committee (MAPS I&O).

The event will feature multimedia presentations, focused short talks and opportunities for open dialogue. Snacks will be served. Attendees will also have an opportunity to observe an Islamic prayer at 12:30 p.m.

“MAPS will host open houses on the first Saturday of each month, exploring topics such as women in Islam, Islamic art, among others,” said MAPS I&O media coordinator, Ghada Ellithy. “On December 5th, attendees will have a wonderful opportunity to have a heart-to-heart talk with Muslims who have served our nation.”

Muslim Association of Puget Sound, MAPS, is an Islamic organization founded in 2006 with the intent of serving the Muslims of Puget Sound. Its mission is to provide Islamic educational, social and cultural services to the Muslim community in the region and to promote the teachings of Islam to the inquiring non-Muslim. MAPS strives to build links between Muslim families, businesses and organizations, provides year-round activities and religious services and is committed to helping the needy.
