King County Sheriff’s Office deputies found a vehicle that had been flipped and crushed in rural East King County but reportedly no one was harmed in what they are calling a “Holiday Miracle.”

On Sunday morning, Nov. 28, King County Sheriff’s Office deputies and members of the Duvall Fire Department responded to the intersection of NE Woodinville Duvall Road and West Snoqualmie Valley Road after a passerby found an overturned Mazda in the woods adjacent to the roadway.

First responders feared that the accident was a fatal one, but did not find anyone in the car once they were able to turn it right-side-up. Fearing someone may have been ejected, a thermal camera was used to search the area. No one was found.

Deputies responded to the owner’s home to investigate what had happened. The 18-year-old driver answered the door and was transported, as a precaution, to Evergreen Hospital for minor injuries. He confirmed being in the crash telling investigators he walked home after the incident.

According to a Facebook post from the King County Sheriff’s Office, investigators believe airbags, crumple zones in the vehicle’s structural design and “a little luck” helped the teen survive the dangerous crash.
