A summer reading program for adults kicks off Monday, June 14 at the Redmond Regional Library and Kirkland Library branches of the King County Library System (KCLS).

“Wet Your Appetite for Reading” is for adults ages 18 and up.

Reading categories include:

• A book published the year you were born;

• Somebody else’s favorite book;

• A book that was made into a movie;

• A classic;

• A paperback from Choice Reads;

• A favorite book from your childhood; and

• A book of a type you don’t normally read

When participants read a book from any of those categories, they can review the book online at http://catalog.kcls.org or turn in their review with an entry form at the Redmond or Kirkland libraries.

Weekly drawings will be held for $25 gift certificates to a Redmond or Kirkland restaurant or grocery store. Drawings will take place during July and August. The more books you read and review, the better your chances of winning.

To be eligible for a grand prize of two 3-day passes to the Bumbershoot Festival on Labor Day weekend (Sept. 4-6) in Seattle, read and review at least three books in three different categories by Aug. 28.

For a finisher prize, read and review at least three books from three different categories by Sept. 21 and receive a 20-ounce water bottle.

This program is funded by the Friends of the Redmond Library and Friends of the Library of Kirkland (FOLK).
