Washington State Department of Transportation (WDOT) bridge crews will perform monthly maintenance work on the State Route 520 Evergreen Point floating bridge early Thursday morning.
Maintenance openings of the bridge drawspan begin Thursday, Feb. 11 at 12:30 a.m. and end at 5 a.m. During this time, drivers can expect the bridge to be closed to traffic for up to 30 minutes at a time. Crews will conduct monthly safety checks and test the bridge drawspan to ensure proper working order.
Drivers will be alerted to possible 30-minute delays by electronic signs on highways that lead to the bridge. Traffic conditions on the bridge can be monitored on our Seattle traffic page at www.wsdot.wa.gov/Traffic/seattle. Drivers can also check the SR 520 cameras mounted on both highrises. The west highrise camera is at: www.wsdot.wa.gov/Traffic/seattle/sr520_midspan.htm#cam. The east highrise camera is available at: www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/seattle/sr520_easthighrise.htm#cam
Drivers can take I-90 across Lake Washington to avoid a bridge opening. However, drivers should be aware of construction in both directions of I-90 between I-5 and I-405. Up to three lanes may be closed eastbound and two lanes westbound. The I-90 center roadway will remain open to HOV traffic in the eastbound direction to help keep traffic moving.
