RHS photography club sponsors competition for students

The new Redmond High School (RHS) Photography Club is sponsoring its very first photography competition, open to all current RHS students.

The new Redmond High School (RHS) Photography Club is sponsoring its very first photography competition, open to all current RHS students.

The photograph may be taken at any time the photographer chooses but must be taken on the school campus. The motto for the club is “viewing the world through a lens,” and the theme for the competition will be “Redmond High School as we see it.”

Entries should express how the photographer sees the school in a creative and artistic fashion. Along with showcasing the photos, prizes will be awarded to winners in two categories: People’s Choice and Judge’s Choice. Honorable mentions will be announced as well.

The competition rules are as followed:

• Images must be taken on campus
• Limit five entries per student
• Prints must be 9 inches by 12 inches or smaller
• Black and white and color prints will be accepted
• Photos must be labeled with entrant’s name and e-mail on the back
• “Top” edge of the photo must be indicated on the back
• The deadline is Dec. 5 and a drop-off box will be located in the RHS main office.

The RHS Photography Club has more than 25 students and students to different opportunities them to explore the world of photography, including monthly outings to places such as Garden d’Lights and the Seattle Flower Show. In the spring the club is planning to attend an antique car show.The club also hosts guest speakers who have a passion and have either worked or actively work in the photography field. In December, the club will welcome guest speaker Barry Fitzsimmons, the director of photography for The Seattle Times.
