A 32-year-old Redmond woman faces first-degree child rape charges after allegations that she had sexual contact with a 5-year-old boy, who was a regular playmate of her young son.

Nancy Lynn Tomlin is accused of sexually assaulting the 5-year-old boy Nov. 24 at her home in the 9800 block of Avondale Road Northeast.

According to charging papers, the 5-year-old boy told his mother and Redmond police detectives that he and Tomlin had been “wrestling” before she pulled his pants and underwear down and performed oral sex on him.

The boy went on to say that Tomlin’s 4-year-old son was present when the assault occurred and that Tomlin told him not tell anyone about it, according to charging papers. The boy didn’t say anything to his mother until the night of Nov. 26 and the next morning, the boy’s mother called 911, the court papers said. The boy did tell investigators that this was the first time anything inappropriate occurred while playing at Tomlin’s house, according to the charging documents.

Redmond police contacted Tomlin at her home Dec. 3 and Tomlin confirmed that the boy had been at her apartment on Nov. 24. But she denied touching him or performing any sexual act on him, the charging papers said. Tomlin told detectives that the boy’s mother was making up the story, but she couldn’t give any good reasons why the mother would make up such a story.

“Nancy told (detectives) that (the boy’s) mother was making the story up, but she could not give (detectives) any substantial reason why,” according to the court papers.

Tomlin was arrested following the Dec. 3 questioning, booked into jail and then later released. Her son was placed in the care of state Child Protective Services and then released to relatives, according to court documents.

During the Dec. 3 investigation, detectives asked if anyone else was home during the questioning and multiple times she said her boyfriend was home and sleeping, the court papers said. Following the arrest of Tomlin, a Redmond detective offered to wake up her boyfriend. That’s when Tomlin admitted she didn’t have a boyfriend and she was lying to detectives when asked if anyone else was in her apartment.

Tomlin returned to King County Jail on Monday and faces $25,000 bail and a Dec. 22 arraignment.
