Redmond police officer Tom Goepfert earned the Lt. John Miner “Excellence in Policing” Award from the Redmond Community Policing Advisory Board in a ceremony at the Redmond Police Department (RPD) on Thursday.

The John Miner Award is presented annually by the Redmond Police Department’s Community Policing Advisory Board to a Redmond police officer or lieutenant who has distinguished themselves by displaying excellence in policing during the preceding year. The award is named after the late Lt. John Miner who was a longtime member of RPD.

Officer Goepfert is a four-year veteran of the department and currently serves as the School Resource Officer at Redmond High School.

Redmond Police Lt. Tim Gately nominated Goepfert for the award, saying that “Tom works tirelessly at the high school on a daily basis. He constantly walks a delicate line acting as a teacher, counselor and law enforcement officer to the hundreds of students he contacts each day. Tom’s daily duties are vast and always directly related to providing excellence in public safety while remaining connected to our community.”
