The Redmond Police Department and Natural Resources Division of Redmond Public Works wants your expired, unused, and unwanted medications, including prescription drugs. Both departments are partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) as part of the first nationwide prescription drug “Take-Back” initiative.
From 10 a.m.- 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 25, Redmond Police will collect controlled, non-controlled, and over the counter medications with no questions asked. No identification will be required or requested.
You can bring unused and unwanted medications to the Redmond Police Department lobby at 8701 160th Ave NE.
Individuals are encouraged to remove identifying information from prescription labels.
Acceptable items include:
• Prescription narcotic drugs (vicodin, oxycotin, etc)
• Prescription medicine
• Over-the-counter medicine
• Medicine samples
• Pet medicines
• Medicated ointments/lotions
• Vitamins
• Inhalers
• EpiPens (unopended)
Items not accepted are intra-venous solutions, hydrogen peroxide, mercury thermometers, injectibles, syringes, or medical waste, due to potential hazards.
Unused and unwanted medicines stored at home may lead to accidental poisonings or drug abuse. Medicines thrown in the garbage or flushed down the toilet can end up in waterways, harming wildlife.
The Bellevue Police Department is also participating in the national “Take-Back” initiative from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25 at the following locations:
City Hall Bellevue Police Lobby, 450 110th Ave. NE
Crossroads Community Police Station, 1336 156th Ave., next to Chipotle
Factoria Community Police Station, 3915 Factoria Blvd. SE, near Nordstrom Rack
The same items will be accepted there, as at the Redmond Police collection site.
