Redmond poet laureate Rebecca Meredith and several local poets are developing a Poetry Anthology this spring in honor of the City of Redmond‘s Centennial celebrations in 2012.

To kick the project off, the public is invited to an event on Thursday, Feb. 23 from 7-9 p.m. at Redmond Big Picture, located 7411 166th Ave. N.E. The poets participating in the anthology will be announced, the scope of the project will be discussed and poets will read from their works. Refreshments will be served.

When completed in late May, the Redmond Centennial Poetry Anthology will consist of a series of poems written in response to 10 historical photos of Redmond and will be published in digital form on the centennial website.

“It is our hope the Poetry Anthology will help capture and express the spirit of Redmond as we move forward into the next 100 years,” Meredith said.
