Extra DUI patrols will be canvassing King County roads, including in Redmond, Aug. 18-Sept. 4.
According to a King County press release, each summer in Washington state, an average of 149 people die in traffic crashes. That is the deadliest season of the year on Washington state roads.
During all of 2016, impaired drivers were involved in crashes that resulted in 277 deaths and another 371 serious injuries.
In King County, the Algona, Auburn, Bellevue, Black Diamond, Burien, Clyde Hill, Covington, Des Moines, Enumclaw, Federal Way, Issaquah, Kent, Lake Forest Park, Maple Valley, Mercer Island, Newcastle, Pacific, Redmond, Renton, Sammamish, SeaTac, Seattle, Shoreline, Snoqualmie, and Tukwila Police Departments, the Washington State Patrol and the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board will be searching the roadways for impaired drivers.
