Redmond High student helps homeless shelter

During the 2009 holiday season, Redmond High School junior Jordyn Ohrt conducted a successful winter clothing drive for homeless women and children served by the Mary’s Place shelter at The Church of Mary Magdalene in Seattle.

With help from the Redmond boys’ and girls’ select basketball teams, the RHS girls’ basketball team, Jeff Hagen at Redmond Parks and Recreation Department, Norman Rockwell Elementary PTA and Redmond Junior High, Ohrt collected more than 1,000 pounds of gently used winter clothing and a huge bag of new clothing for a Santa Shop event, where the mothers and children could select gifts for each other.
