Meetings are held every Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Girl Talk is a national nonprofit and the Redmond chapter was started by Jillian Roels in March 2011. The organization is a student-to-student mentoring program that pairs middle school girls with high school girls.

Weekly meetings are held after school, during which Roels conducts lessons addressing issues middle school girls face every day such as how to talk to your parents and dealing with bullying. The middle school girls are also encouraged to share any positive news, concerns or problems they may have during weekly meetings.

Girl Talk chapters are also involved in community service projects throughout the year. Roels is the owner and executive director of Spark Your Heart and uses Girl Talk to encourage a monthly community service project. She also began the Spark Your Little Heart Guild with the Seattle Children’s Hospital.

Girl Talk is now accepting middle school girls in fourth through ninth grade. For more information or to receive an application to join, call Mary Lou at (206) 478-7003 or email sparkyourheart@sparkyourheart.org.
