Redmond firefighters extinguished a small blaze after an oil fire broke out in the kitchen of a downtown restaurant this afternoon.

The call came in at 1:41 p.m. concerning a minor fire at the Golden India restaurant, located at 7625 170th Ave. N.E., according to Redmond Fire Department spokesman Jim Bove.

About 10-15 customers and employees were evacuated and firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, which was contained to the cooking area, Bove said. There were no injuries.

The business did not have to close and will remain open, Bove said.
