From March 3-5, 37 Lake Washington School District (LWSD) students, including 23 from Redmond, will compete in the Washington State Career Development Conference in Bellevue.
Students who competed and placed at the DECA Area Conference advanced to the state competition. Nearly 800 students from Northshore and Riverview school districts as well as Eastside Catholic School competed at the area conference in addition to students from LWSD.
The following students from Redmond High School students competed and placed at the area conference and will compete in their respective categories:
• Jackie Gaherity and Peyton Halstead, Hospitality Team Decision Making, third place (role play subcategory)
• Joey Costello and Sam Notarianni, Financial Team Decision Making, second place (Costello also placed first in the test subcategory)
• Bri Dankberg, Sports Marketing, third place (second place in test; third place for role play)
• Paul Cretu, Accounting Services, fourth place (first place in test)
• Ashlyn Trussel and Katie Morris, Buying and Merchandising Team, fifth place (second place for role play)
• Madeleine Harrison, Apparel and Accessories Marketing , fifth place
• Myeka Powers, Apparel and Accessories, fourth place
• Will Yoo and Luke Hatakeda, Business Law and Ethics Team, fourth place (third place for role play)
• James Boker and Dan Mobley, Sports and Entertainment Team, third place
• Kelly Weiss and Brittney Montag, Marketing Communications team, second place (first for role play)
• Kastlie Joseph and Ashley Swanson, place Fashion Merchandising Promotion Plan, sixth place
• Everett Boker and Brett Hanaford, place Travel and Tourism Team, seventh place
• Erin Windham and Logan Dougherty, Sports and Entertainment Team, seventh place
• Shannon Ong, who lives in Redmond, from Lake Washington High School will also be competing this weekend. She placed fifth with her partner Maggie Lehr in the Lake Washington Advertising Campaign category.
