A 10-year-old Redmond boy, Connor Burshears is hosting a lemonade stand and bake sale to benefit Camp Korey, Saturday, Aug. 9 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Follow the signs to a multi-family garage sale on Union Hill Road, half a mile from Ames Lake Road. Many of the participating families will also donate proceeds from the garage sale to Connor’s fundraising project.

Camp Korey (www.campkorey.com) is a medically supervised camp for children and teens with serious and life-threatening illnesses, located at the historic Carnation Farm near Redmond.

Connor’s mother, Mo Burshears, explained that Connor has been volunteering at the camp, which currently has a few small golf carts. He thought several larger golf carts would be helpful to transport the medically fragile campers from one part of the property to another. Tom Weed, director of development at Camp Korey, agreed.

Connor is calling this weekend’s fundraising event “Connor’s Cabs at Camp Korey.” The lemonade is from Month of Meals in Redmond and “if you have had the lemonade at Redmond Derby Days, you know how good it is,” Mo noted.

If you would like to contribute to Connor’s project, go to any Washington Mutual Bank and mention “Connor’s Cabs at Camp Korey.” The Burshears family is also accepting golf cart donations (gas only). Carts do not need to be running and your donation is tax deductible.
