From Jan. 27 to May 31, the Redmond Arts Commission will present an exhibition of artwork by Redmond artist Stephanie Nicoll Reilly in public buildings throughout the city.

The exhibition is called “Enigmatic Perspective” and features 21 mixed-media collages in the following locations:

• Redmond City Hall (first and fourth floors), 15670 N.E. 85th St.
• Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center, 16600 N.E. 80th St.
• Redmond Senior Center, 8703 160th Ave. N.E.

Reilly creates heavily textured collages through the layering of words, pictures, paint and found objects. Each piece holds a personal meaning to Reilly and although the viewer might not see it directly, a deeper look can reveal images of her family, stories of life or hidden mantras of faith and hope. Some pieces are simple expressions, some are very complex but all are intended to provoke a contemplative response in the viewer leaving the viewer thinking, wondering, interpreting and curious.

“It is gratifying to listen to an observer’s interpretation and story about one of my art pieces,” Reilly said. “Often it is different from what I saw or felt when I created the canvas.”

The exhibition of artwork includes two public events and chances to meet Reilly and see her artwork. The first is part of VALA Eastside’s “Artist to Artist Series” on Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 5-7 p.m. at Flying Apron Bakery, 16541 Redmond Way. The second is an artist reception at Redmond City Hall on Wednesday, Feb. 29 from 7-9 p.m.
