The property occupied by the downtown Redmond branch of the U.S. Post Office, at 16135 NE 85th St., has been listed for sale by CB Richard Ellis.

It is situated on nearly 2.3 acres and includes a 12,910 square-foot building.

Redmond Postmaster Kathren Smith explained that the downtown branch will eventually consolidate with Redmond’s other U.S. Post Office facility at 7241 185th Ave. NE. Mail carriers will begin working out of the 185th Avenue location in January or February 2010. Retail clerks will continue to work at the 85th Street location until that property is sold.

A new downtown office location will be established, to continue providing postal services such as sales of stamps and shipping of packages.
