The King County Medical Examiner’s Office released Thursday afternoon the name of the man who was found dead in Lake Sammamish earlier this week. The cause of death for John D. Allan, 59, won’t be known for at least six weeks, although Redmond Police do not believe it was a homicide.

Samples have been sent to the Washington State Crime Lab, which will test the samples and then send them back to the medical examiner, who will then determine a cause of death. These types of tests can take anywhere from 6-10 weeks, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Allan, a Redmond resident, according to Redmond Police, was found floating, dead in Lake Sammamish late Wednesday morning by a Redmond woman walking along the shore near Lakewood Shores Condominums.

Jim Bove, spokesperson for the Redmond Police Department confirmed the man lived in Redmond, “not far from where he was found.” In addition, Bove said, “we don’t suspect foul play” and there are “no signs of trauma.”

Redmond Police responded to the Lake Sammamish shoreline in the 3800 block of 175th Ave Northeast at 11:47 a.m. and found Allan, fully clothed, near a dock just off the shoreline.

Detectives and a King County Medical Examiner’s Office investigator responded to the scene and removed the body from the water. The body was taken from the scene by the Medical Examiner’s investigator. Divers from the King County Sheriff’s Office Marine/Dive Unit responded to the scene and conducted an underwater search for possible evidence.
