Police arrest burglary suspect for second time

Between Jan. 6-9, six businesses at 8600 154th Ave. N.E. in Redmond reported break-ins or theft. After canvassing the entire building, Redmond Police Department (RPD) officers believe the suspect(s) entered unsecured office spaces and then cut through an interior wall to access other businesses. Office staff, contractors and police found food wrappers, tool boxes, power tools and a camera.

Officers responded to an apartment at 8300 158th Ave. N.E. at 2:20 a.m. Jan. 9 when maintenance staff observed a suspect breaking into storage units and placing stolen items into a vehicle. Swing-shift officers had just arrested a 28-year-old burglary suspect sleeping in the same garage on Jan. 7. Officers arrived at the apartment this time and arrested a 31-year-old male who possessed metal knuckles, shaved keys and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested for second-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, dangerous weapons and drug paraphernalia.

The 31-year-old suspect was released from jail and on Jan. 13, RPD received a call from a contractor who found him sleeping inside a commercial building at 8600 154th Ave. N.E. The suspect again had burglary tools on him, as well as drugs. He was arrested again for criminal trespass and possession of burglary tools and drug paraphernalia.

“Detectives are investigating connections between this suspect, activity at the 8300 158th Ave. N.E. apartment and the multiple thefts and burglaries in the 154th area,” a RPD press release reads. “We’re currently conducting outreach with downtown apartments and businesses to share information and discuss the safety and security of their facilities.”
