Last Friday morning, Redmond police found and arrested a 21-year-old man who confessed to stealing two wallets and a 50-inch flatscreen television from Overlake Christian Church last month. He faces a second-degree burglary charge and two counts of theft in the second degree, according to Redmond police spokesperson Jim Bove.
Redmond police received a trespass call at 11:30 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 8500 block of 148th Avenue Northeast. The responding officer contacted the trespasser, who was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, Bove said. He also confessed to stealing two wallets during the Aug. 15 Sunday service and a television from Overlake Christian Church the night of Aug. 19 when several community groups were holding meetings.
Bove said investigators do not believe this suspect is connected to the theft of a rented moving van — packed with more than $40,000 worth of camping supplies — from the church parking lot in July.
“There is no evidence right now that leads us to believe this is linked to the moving van/auto theft case,” Bove said.
