The City of Redmond needs volunteers to work in the parks planting native plants and removing non-native invasive plants.
The next work party is 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 31 at Idylwood Park, 3650 West Lake Sammamish Parkway.
This event is the last work party in 2009 for the “Last Saturday” series. Since it falls on Halloween – costumes could be fun, but are optional. No prior experience is necessary and tools and gloves are provided.
The City of Redmond and the Cascade Land Conservancy joined together to form the Green Redmond Partnership. It is the partnership’s goal to bring 1,035 acres of Redmond’s forested parkland into active management over the next 20 years. Active management allows Redmond’s forests to remain a healthy and important element of the native ecosystem.
