Reporting news about layoffs is never pleasant.
Now here’s some good news in response to the recent Microsoft layoff announcement.
Chris Hoffman, chief executive officer and president of the Greater Redmond Chamber of Commerce, said she’s not terribly worried about the Microsoft cutbacks or their impact on other Redmond businesses.
Redmond residents with an interest in the future growth and character of the city are invited to apply for a vacancy on the Redmond Planning Commission. Planning Commissioners are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council and may serve up to two four-year terms.
Threats: A man who lives in the 16900 block of Northeast 100th Street got a phone call from an unknown person who threatened to shoot and stab him.
Sound Transit held the first of five open houses and public hearings regarding East Link light rail options on Wednesday evening at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center.

A memorial is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 24 for Heather Haworth, a long-time math and science teacher at Redmond Junior High who passed away on Jan. 6 due to complications from cystic fibrosis. She was 38 years old.

Heather Haworth, a 38-year-old math teacher at Redmond Junior High (RJH), passed away Jan. 6 due to complications of Cystic Fibrosis.
According to RJH Principal Prato Barone, she began working in the Lake Washington School District in the fall of 1995, “taught sciences and math with a unique passion and energy,” and also coached tennis for a number of years.
