One Redmond bank robber arrested; another still wanted

The suspect believed to have robbed the Bank of America on the 2200 block of Bel-Red Road Sept. 2 was arrested Friday by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Moxee police and Yakima police.

The 47-year-old suspect was taken into custody Friday at approximately noon. A large amount of cash believed to have been stolen during the robbery was found in the suspect’s vehicle. He was booked into the Yakima County Jail on a no-bail Department of Corrections warrant related to his involvement in the bank robbery.

The arrest and information leading to the arrest was a collaborative effort with Redmond police, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Moxee police, Department of Corrections, United States Marshalls, Yakima police and Bank of America security. Redmond detectives will forward charging papers to the King County Prosecutor this week.

This was the second such bank robbery that occurred in Redmond in less than a week. U.S. Bank in the 15000 block of Northeast 24th Street was robbed in similar fashion Aug. 27.
