The Pacific Science Center will be running an educational STEM event in downtown Redmond on Wednesday.
“Worms With Dementia,” a conversation with Laura Taylor, of the molecular and cellular biology graduate program, at the University of Washington, will be at the Old Firehouse Teen Center, 16510 N.E. 79th St., at 7 p.m.
She will be giving an overview of neurodegenerative diseases and the molecular mechanisms that lead to their progression. This will be followed by an explanation of how microscopic nematode worms are used to study ALS and Alzheimer’s disease.
Extra credit tickets will be provided for students at end of event for those teachers awarding points.
