No waste pickup for Monday as strike continues

Residential garbage, recycling, and yard waste collection services will not be provided today (Monday, July 30) due to the ongoing strike by Waste Management workers.

Redmond customers with Monday collection service are encouraged to remove their garbage, recycling, and yard waste carts from the street. A double load of garbage and recyclables will be collected at no additional cost on the next regularly scheduled service day.

Teamsters’ Local 117, whose membership includes recycling and yard waste truck drivers for Waste Management, Inc. (WMI), remain on strike and Teamsters’ Local 174, whose membership includes garbage truck drivers continue to honor the Local 117 picket lines.

Waste Management is implementing its strike contingency plan and a second group of experienced substitute drivers will be deployed on Monday morning.

Additional groups of experienced drivers are scheduled to join the workforce to increase service capacity.
