Just before 1 a.m. on Wednesday, 911 dispatch received multiple reports of a fully involved house fire on Education Hill in Redmond.
Multiple companies from the Redmond Fire Department (RFD) as well as Kirkland and Woodinville fire departments responded to the scene, with the first company arriving at 1 a.m.
RFD Capt. Drew Dafazio said there were no injuries as the family of three — two adults and their 15-year-old son — evacuated before fire crews arrived.
Defazio said the fire was contained to the garage that was attached to the house, a small rambler in the 15800 block of Northeast 112th Street, and crews extinguished the fire within 20 minutes. The fire was significantly advanced and well through the garage roof by the time crews arrived, he said, and threatening the house next door.
Crews set up two hose lines: one to protect the house next door and a larger hose line directed at the fire itself.
Defazio said the fire companies were able to extinguish the fire before it reached the living area of the home, although there was some smoke damage. He added that as the fire did not reach the living area, there is minimal water damage to the living area.
RFD connected the family with the Red Cross so they could find temporary housing until they can reoccupy their home.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Defazio said.
