Municipal League releases candidates’ ratings

Over the past four weeks, the Municipal League conducted its annual review of the candidates for local elected office.

Over the past four weeks, the Municipal League conducted its annual review of the candidates for local elected office.

Seventy volunteers devoted more than 2,000 hours to the non-partisan process.

To determine candidate ratings, volunteers reviewed candidate questionnaires, studied the public record, spoke with references and conducted interviews with candidates. Committee members then rated each candidate on four criteria: involvement, character, effectiveness and knowledge.

Below are the ratings of candidates who would represent Redmond or Redmond residents:

45th Legislative District (Position 1)

  • Roger Goodman: Outstanding
  • Jacob Bond: Not qualified
  • Joel Hussey: Very good

45th Legislative District (Position 2)

  • Jim Thatcher: Very good
  • Lawrence Springer: Very good

48th Legislative District (Postion 1)

  • Bill Hirt: Not qualified
  • Ross Hunter: Very good

48th Legislative District (Postion 2)

  • Cyrus Habib: Very good
  • Hank Myers: Very good

King County Sheriff

  • John Urquhart: Good
  • Steve Strachan: Outstanding

King County Superior Court

  • Elizabeth Berns: Outstanding (Position 25)
  • Kimberly Allen: Very good (Position 30)

The Municipal League will host a public ratings release party tonight to announce the ratings and celebrate volunteers’ efforts. The events will be attended by candidates, local officials and Municipal League members. The event will be from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Wooly Toad Restaurant at the Golf Club at Newcastle, located at 15500 Six Penny Ln. in Newcastle.
