Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 implementation at City of Redmond a success

Tyler Technologies, Inc. has announced it has successfully implemented Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 with the City of Redmond.

Tyler Technologies, Inc. has announced it has successfully implemented Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 with the City of Redmond.

This marks the first-ever deployment of the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system with public sector-specific functionality, which Tyler jointly developed with Microsoft Corp.

Redmond has already realized significant improvement in control over transactions and workflow processes since going live with Dynamics last month, according to city officials.

Redmond chose Tyler to implement the system for several reasons: the company’s long track record of success with public sector software, its deep customer base in Washington and its involvement in jointly developing Dynamics.

“Tyler has such deep public sector experience that they’re really the industry expert, including when it comes to implementing the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 product,” said City of Redmond director of finance and information services Mike Bailey in a press release. “They not only know their business very well, but the level of dedication to success was exactly what we were counting on from Tyler during this implementation. Right away, we began seeing significant improvements in the way we do business with respect to workflows, which are very sophisticated and malleable. The acceptance level of this system has been very high, and Tyler’s dedication to the City of Redmond’s success helped me garner support for the technology transitions that we’re making.”

Redmond, home to approximately 54,000 residents and 5,500 businesses, developed a visionary and strategic technology plan to better position the city to handle future challenges and address current issues by implementing a solution that was more than just another way of doing things.

“When I became mayor, I wanted to bring Redmond into the future and a key part of our plan was updating the city’s financial management software tools,” Redmond Mayor John Marchione said in the press release. “With Tyler’s successful implementation of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, we can realize our vision of a full-service city.”

Redmond successfully implemented Dynamics core ERP applications including General Ledger, Purchasing and Workflow. These were complemented with Tyler’s Payroll and Cashiering applications.

“The implementation of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 with the City of Redmond has been a resounding success thanks to the very collaborative, two-year partnership between Redmond, Microsoft and Tyler Technologies,” said Tyler President and CEO John S. Marr Jr. “Microsoft selected Tyler to jointly develop the core public sector ERP functionality for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 because they value Tyler’s public sector expertise far above others in the industry and Microsoft is very confident in our implementation processes. Tyler is pleased to play such a vital role in Redmond’s success with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, and we look forward to this ongoing partnership.”

Gail Thomas, vice president of state and local government at Microsoft added, “Tyler Technologies is enabling real impact with the City of Redmond with the deployment of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, an integrated and modernized financial management solution built for the business of government. The implementation of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, which streamlines processes and customizes workflows, demonstrates that forward thinking government organizations can empower employees and advance the city’s capabilities in meaningful ways.”
