McAuliffe opened United Recycling in 1995 after years working in gravel pits owned by his father, Jim. Located in Snohomish, the full service company has 40 employees and handles demolition debris, clean scrap wood and brush, mixed paper, yard waste, aluminum, glass, and non-ferrous metal.

Nearby is Clearview Nursery & Stone, which he opened in 2004. It ranks as one of the largest suppliers of natural stone in Snohomish County. Their family-friendly yard contains foundations, a kids sand pitch, and a collection of locally recognized antiques, including the Ivar’s Clam, Leilani Lane’s exterior marquee, and lampposts from the Port of Everett.

A graduate of Bothell High School, Dan prides himself on being a hands-on owner and providing first class customer service.

The Entrepreneurship Series has previously featured Lisa Dupar, owner of Lisa Dupar Catering in Redmond, Todd Thompson, CEO of Eastside Harley, Colette Courtion, founder and CEO of Calidora Skin Clinics, & Donna Phung, founder and owner of Lotus Salon & Spa, and Jens Molbak, founder of Coinstar, Inc. and owner of Molbak’s Garden + Home.
