A 20-year-old man was robbed of his wallet and cellular phone after another man threatened to shoot him with a gun Sunday night near the downtown transit center.

The victim was going to meet an acquaintance near the downtown transit center on Northeast 83rd Street at around 9 p.m., according to Redmond police spokesman Jim Bove.

As the victim was leaving his car, the suspect grabbed him from behind and “dragged him onto the path between the transit center and the apartments,” Bove said.

The victim was instructed to give the suspect his wallet and cell phone or else he would be shot, however the suspect never showed a gun, according to Bove.

The suspect took the wallet, which contained $60 and several credit cards, and the cell phone before running away northbound on 161st Avenue Northeast with a second suspect, who watched the strong arm robbery, but did not say anything.

The victim immediately cancelled his credit cards to avoid any fraudulent purchases, Bove said.

There were no injuries and the case is still under investigation, Bove said.
