King County prosecutor’s charge man in killing of his 8-year-old son

Police say man is suspected of February murder in community East of Redmond.

The King County Prosecutor’s Office filed first-degree murder charges against 37-year-old Omid Mola for the death of his 8-year-old son.

According to the King County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at the 13600 block of 179th Ave NE in English Hill, East of Redmond, for a report of a domestic disturbance before 8am on February 9th, 2021.

According to the Certificate for Determination of Probable Cause, the 8-year-old-victim called his mother who was driving home from work and told her that his father was “shouting,” or “choking,”.

The documents say that after she was called by the victim, she called the victim’s father who said he had cut the throat of the 8-year-old son as well as himself.

Deputies entered the home and discovered a deceased 8-year-old child. The victim’s 37-year-old father was transported to a local hospital with self-inflicted, non-life threatening injuries. According to the KCSO, the man remains hospitalized and under police custody.

The suspect’s arraignment, where he is expected to enter a plea, is on Feb. 25.
