The City of Redmond’s historic preservation program and Redmond Historical Society are hosting a Haunted History Walking Tour on Sept. 30 from 5-7 p.m.

This narrated event continues the yearlong celebration of the city’s centennial and emphasizes a connection between history and arts. The tour will also feature a seasonal reading during the last portion of the event at the historic Redmond Trading Company building/Half Price Books.

Several historic places in Redmond’s downtown are reported to have experienced mysterious activities. Also, many structures from Redmond’s pioneering days are simply a memory, captured in photography by Winfred W. Wallace (1884-1925). In addition to describing people, places and events of yesteryear, Redmond’s local historian, Tom Hitzroth will discuss notable activities at each location. In partnership with local proprietors, participants will also tour some interior spaces of Redmond’s surviving history.

The tour begins at the Justice White House (north of the Redmond Saturday Market, west end of Redmond Town Center) and parking is available on Northeast 76th Street and in the vicinity of Redmond Town Center. Light refreshments will be available at the reading.

The tour will be offered, rain or shine and umbrellas will be available to borrow. Participants should dress for the weather and for long periods of standing along Leary Way.
