Friends of Youth (FOY) in Redmond has received a $15,000 grant from the Safeco Insurance Foundation as part of the foundation’s basic services initiative.

The money will go toward sheltering homeless young people at The Landing, the only young adult shelter in east King County, soon to be relocated to the Together Center in downtown Redmond. The Landing is just one component of FOY’s homeless youth services program, which also includes street outreach, a 24-hour shelter crisis line, shelters, laundry, hot meals, clothing, showers/hygiene kits and full continuum services such as case management, transitional housing, employment programs and permanent supported housing. These services all offer young people the opportunity to transition to safe and stable housing.

FOY is among 42 charities in the Pacific Northwest in Washington and Oregon with similar purposes to receive a total of $600,000 in grants from the Safeco Insurance Foundation.
