Final public hearing for city budget set for Nov. 15

The City of Redmond will host the third and final public hearing on the 2017-18 biennial budget at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at Redmond City Hall, 15670 N.E. 85th St., during the regular City Council meeting.

The goal of the public hearing is to gather community input about city issues, priorities and fiscal matters before the final budget is adopted on Dec. 6.

The city continues to use its Budgeting by Priorities (BP) process for formation of the 2017-18 budget. By using lessons learned from the previous efforts, the city strives to continue providing the highest priority services to the community. The 2017-18 preliminary budget is on the city’s website at www.redmond.gov/budget.

City Council is currently conducting budget study sessions with the last one scheduled for Nov. 15. If needed, an additional budget meeting will be held on Nov. 17. The public is invited to attend study sessions but with a reminder these meetings are informational only. A complete budget study session calendar can be found on the city’s website.

In addition to public hearings, community members can voice their opinion about the budget at any regular council meeting during the “Items from the Audience” section on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. Public comments regarding budget matters are also gathered at budget hearings or by emailing bpquestions@redmond.gov. Comments will be collected up until budget adoption.
