Redmond-based Family Resource Center will host its 12th annual Eastside Volunteer Fair on Saturday, May 2, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Fair will be held at Crossroads Bellevue located at NE 8th and 156th Avenue NE in Bellevue. More than fifty agencies are expected to participate, including human services, housing, health, arts, education and community organizations.
This year the fair, which is free, includes a U.S. Post Office booth for those wishing to access passport services and a party-hopper for children. The entertainment stage will feature a variety of jazz and cultural entertainment. Participants may also purchase $5 raffle tickets for a chance to win one of two beautiful quilts. Proceeds will benefit Family Resource Center efforts to ease access to human services.
Family Resource Center, a regional nonprofit organization located at 16225 NE 87th, is a national model for “one-stop” service and collaboration among health and human services agencies.
“We work to ensure that all are able to find the help they need, when they need it,” said Family Resource Center Executive Director Pam Mauk.
The Eastside Volunteer Fair is designed to provide an opportunity for the community to identify volunteer opportunities in which they would like to participate and to learn about services offered throughout the Eastside. Participants learn which agency is a fit for their interests, where their civic club might make an impact, who can welcome a classroom or a troop and, very simply, “who is doing what out there.”
Over 40,000 Eastsiders, half of them children, receive assistance each year from the 18 agencies operating on the Center’s unique human services campus and other supports provided by Family Resource Center. Major agencies on the campus include Hopelink, Sound Mental Health, Friends of Youth, HealthPoint, Youth Eastside Services, Habitat for Humanity and many more.
