There will be a downtown lane and street closure during night hours this week as the City of Redmond continues its stormwater trunk installation project.

Starting tonight through Saturday, the eastbound land on Redmond Way at 159th Place Northeast will be closed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

In addition, during those same dates, a portion of 166th Avenue Northeast from Cleveland Street to Northeast 76th Street will be closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for railroad track removal and pipe installation.

As part of the project, the city is ripping up the downtown railroad tracks and installing an underground stormwater drain along the railroad corridor.

The large underground pipe will convey stormwater runoff from more than 250 acres of downtown Redmond to the Sammamish river as part of the stormwater trunk project.

The stormwater trunk project, which began last month, started at Redmond Way at the railroad trestle crossing and proceeded east down the railroad right of way. It will then head north at 166th Avenue Northeast to the Northeast 83rd Street and north at 170th Avenue Northeast to Avondale Way.
