The occupants of the silver BMW in last Saturday’s alleged suspicious-circumstance incident have reached out to Redmond police and apologized for any misunderstanding.

According to the Redmond Police Department, the driver and his passenger pulled over to the side of the road when they had an equipment malfunction inside their vehicle. When the 9-year-old girl stopped, they believed she wanted to cross 183rd Avenue Northeast and were motioning to her to do so.

“We were relieved to make contact, learn more about them and this incident. We still encourage children and parents to watch out and report suspicious behavior. Thanks to all involved,” the release reads.
