For the past 68 years, the Redmond Derby Days Summer Festival has been a vital part of summer in Redmond. This year, the festival will be held Saturday, July 12 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Redmond City Hall Campus, 15670 NE 85th St.

This year, Derby Days is taking a trip “Through the Decades.” The fun begins with the Redmond Medical Center Kids’ Parade at 10 a.m., immediately followed by the Venture Bank Grand Parade.

The Genie Industries Criterium, the nation’s longest-running bicycle race, starts with a Juniors race at 2 p.m. and all-ages kids’ lap at 2:45 p.m. The Men’s and Women’s competition runs from 3-7 p.m.

Also planned are music, interactive games, bouncy houses, a climbing wall and other family fun. The Funtastic Carnival will run from Thursday, July 10 to Sunday, July 13 at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center, at the corner of Northeast 80th Street and 165th Avenue Northeast. Thursday is a discount day, with all rides discounted from 5-10 p.m.

The action at the Microsoft Entertainment Stage begins at noon Saturday, July 10 with Eric Haines’ family-friendly comedy and juggling show. Other family-oriented entertainers will put on 30-minute shows between each of the musical groups.

At 1 p.m., the musical romp through the decades begins with the Rockin’ Daddies, a ’50s sock hop group. At 2:30 p.m., The Big Dog Revue, a Derby Days favorite, plays ’60s rock and Motown hits. At 4 p.m., Soul’d Out gets down with the music of the ’70s. At 5:30 p.m., the Spazmatics put the pop back into the ’80s. At 7 p.m., Rock Candy plays high-energy tunes from the ’90s.

Musical headliner this year is Nathan Chance, a rock/blues/country band that recently opened for Rascal Flatts. They’ll perform at 8:30 p.m. From 8-8:30 p.m., line dance lessons will get everyone in the mood.

The Beer and Wine Garden, presented by Beck’s Steaks and Seafood, is located close to the food and music and opens at noon.

At 10 p.m., a spectacular fireworks display will finish off the evening.

Ample parking for Derby Days is available at the Redmond City Hall parking garage, the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center and Redmond Town Center. A free shuttle will run between parking sites from 9 a.m.-10:30 p.m.
