Costume fun at Marymoor

More than 100 costumed attendees met at Marymoor Park in Redmond last Saturday for Gasukan, the free and friendly monthly gathering for costume roleplayers, anime lovers, photographers and Japanese/Asian culture enthusiasts in the Pacific Northwest.

This month’s Gasukan theme was “Gijinka,” a Japanese word meaning “humanoid” or “anthropomorphic” which relates to an animal bearing human characteristics, such as popular Digimon or Pokémon characters.

Gasukan began on Oct. 11, 2007 at Gasworks Park in Seattle and has drawn people from British Columbia to Oregon and everywhere in between. While Gasukan is usually held in the greater Seattle area, this was the group’s first visit to the city of Redmond.
