State House candidate and Sammamish Deputy Mayor Ramiro Valderrama and Sammamish Police Chief Michelle Benett will speak at a community discussion, “Marijuana, Heroin Production and Impact on Eastside Communities,” at 7 p.m. Nov. 7 at Rosa Parks Elementary on Redmond Ridge, 22845 Cedar Park Crescent N.E.

According to a flier for the event, “The Eastside has seen a growing number of heroin/opioid overdoses. Our high schools have lost several students. How can we combat this very serious issue along with the increased number of applications for marijuana production facilities (some near neighborhoods and community gathering places)?”
