The City of Redmond is hosting the second public open house to discuss the future of 152nd Avenue Northeast, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26 from at Audubon Elementary School, 3045 180th Ave. NE in Redmond.

This open house is the next in a series of meetings that began earlier this year to get community input for this key corridor in Overlake Village.

By 2030, new development in Overlake Village, Overlake’s retail district, will support up to 5,500 residential units and more than 4 million square feet of office and retail space. With Sound Transit’s plans to locate the East Link light rail in Overlake, there is potential for 152nd Avenue Northeast to be one of the most unique, signature streets in the city.

The community’s vision for 152nd Avenue Northeast is a busy and vibrant corridor with a distinctive character and lively pedestrian environment. It is expected to become the heart of Overlake Village, supported by multi-modal transportation options, special streetscapes and public open spaces.

Integrated stormwater facilities, parks, urban pathways and green spaces will become the connective fabric of Overlake Village, meeting the needs of future growth in this area and reinforcing the vision for the neighborhood to become a great place to live, work and play.

On Oct. 26, meeting participants will be asked for their comments on preferred urban streetscape themes for 152nd Avenue Northeast that will be displayed that evening. Community feedback will help city staff and consultants package their recommendations for the corridor, which will go before the Redmond City Council early next year.

Information about 152nd Avenue Northeast can be found on the city’s Web site at www.redmond.gov/intheworks/overlake/152study.asp. E-mail Tricia Thomson, project manager, at tthomson@redmond.gov for more details about the Oct. 26 public open house.
