Redmond residents with an interest in the future growth and character of the city are invited to apply for a vacancy on the Redmond Planning Commission. Planning commissioners are appointed by the mayor, confirmed by the City Council and may serve up to two four-year terms. All board and commission members are volunteers.
The commission’s role is to make recommendations to the City Council regarding planning policy and land-use regulations. Examples of upcoming topics for the Planning Commission include: updates to design standards for new development, Zoning Code and Comprehensive Plan updates for Overlake Village South and policy and code amendments for the Old Town Historic Core and other portions of Redmond.
Planning Commission meetings are held at 7 p.m. Wednesdays, typically three times a month, and are cablecast live on Redmond City Television.

A copy of the community service application is also available in the Mayor’s Office on the fourth floor of City Hall.
The application deadline is 5 p.m. Feb. 3. The position will remain open until filled.
