The City of Redmond is seeking an artist or artist team to help the city envision a technological-savvy lifestyle integrating into the surrounding natural environment along the future Redmond Central Connector (RCC).

The deadline to submit portfolios is Oct 11 at 11 p.m.

The selected artist or artist team will create artwork along the RCC trail, aid in identifying art opportunities for additional artists and contribute to the design team during the development of the 60 percent plan set. The artist budget is $85,000.

Led by the Berger Partnership, the design team is currently in the preliminary design phase for the 1.1 mile section of trail that runs from the Sammamish River Trail to Bear Creek Trail through the heart of downtown Redmond. The goals for this project include making the trail not just a place with art but a place that is art. The recently completed master plan for the RCC is available at www.redmond.gov/rcc.

“The Redmond Central Connector presents the opportunity to feature art, be art and also be a catalyst to shape an ever more artistically engaged community,” said Redmond parks and recreation director Craig Larsen. “Our downtown is becoming more urban and while the Connector will serve as a vital transportation corridor, it will also be a place of contemplation and adventure.”

This call is open to individual artists or artist groups residing in the United States. Eligible artists and artist teams are invited to submit their qualifications and digital application materials for this open call by e-mail or mail.
