Redmond Mayor John Marchione announced Tuesday night that City Hall will be closed today with all non-essential employees not reporting for work.

Redmond Police Chief Ron Gibson said the police, fire and public works department is well-staffed today. Gibson said as of 10:30 a.m., there are no road closures in Redmond, but that may change.

“Hopefully the snow tapers off so we can turn our focus to recovery efforts,” Gibson said.

The City of Redmond has provided several snow-related online resources for Redmond residents, including:

With about 4-6 inches blanketing the city and snow still falling, the Redmond Police Department (RPD) is advising residents not to drive unless they absolutely have to.

“We had to close a few roads yesterday and some vehicles were ignoring the signs, thinking that if they had four-wheel drive they could get through,” said RPD spokesman Jim Bove. “They end up getting stuck and then we have to use our resources from elsewhere to come back and help them. This isn’t the time to be selfish; it’s a time to be safe.”
