Cascade Water Alliance, which gets its water from the Seattle water system, and serves Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, Issaquah, Tukwila, the Sammamish Plateau and Skyway Water and Sewer Districts, said today that the Seattle water outlook has been changed from good to fair. Seattle is now making operational changes to maximize water supply.

“The hot weather, higher than normal use, and lack of precipitation and record-low instream flows have had an impact,” said Chuck Clarke, Cascade CEO. “As a result, Seattle, which provides most of the water to the Cascade member service area, has changed its outlook on water supply.

“We are asking residents to continue to use water wisely. There is still water for consumption adequate for use until the rain returns in the fall. But in the meantime, everyone should continue their strong ethic of being careful with this resource.

“No voluntary or mandatory actions are required at this time. We are asking people to use their best judgement regarding water use,” Clarke said.
