The Lake Washington PTSA Council and the Bellevue Council PTSA are co-sponsoring a candidate forum for the 45th and 48th legislative districts from 7-8:30 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Redmond High School Performing Arts Center.

This is a non-partisan event to which all candidates have been invited.

Participants are:

45th Legislative District:

Position 1: Rep. Roger Goodman (D), Ramiro Valderrama (R)

Position 2: Rep. Larry Springer (D)

48th Legislative District:

Position 1: Rep. Joan McBride (D)

Position 2: Rep. Patty Kuderer (D), Michelle Darnell (L)

Topics will include:

• How the districts should face our unprecedented growth

• Education funding strategies at the state level

• The importance of teacher quality

• Access to special needs programs

• Strategies for diminishing the opportunity gaps in education

• The inclusion and implementation of technology and STEAM (STEM + Art and Design) activities in the classroom.
