This year’s Youth Handbell Conference, held March 25-26 at Pine Lake Covenant Church in Sammamish, will feature the choir from Faith Lutheran Church in Redmond.
The annual conference alternates between the Seattle and Portland areas and focuses on elementary through high school-aged youths in both states.
An open concert will be held on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Pine Lake Covenant, at 1715 228th Ave. S.E. in Sammamish. The program is open to the public.
Guest clinician, Kathleen Wissinger from Virginia will lead the young ringers in both smaller groups and massed ringing.
With more than 50 handbell pieces in print, Wissinger is known for innovative arrangements and original compositions. She has directed youth choirs since 1988 and regularly serves as a clinician for adults and youth in festivals and workshops around the country. Wissinger has served on her local area board of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers (soon to be Handbell Musicians of America), and teaches middle high handbell classes in a private school as well as piano in her home.
