Redmond Town Center will glow with a large, interactive sound and light sculpture presented by the Redmond Arts Commission and the City of Redmond. “Sonic Forest,” created by artist/architect Christopher Janney, will premiere at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4 and will be open from 9 a.m.-10 p.m. each day through Saturday, Dec. 12.
“Sonic Forest” is one of Janney’s urban instruments played when people wave their hands in different places on the sculpture. Fun for the whole family, Sonic Forest is a wonderful way to enjoy the music and lights of the holidays and this event is free. Musicians are encouraged to come with their percussion instruments.
This installation is part of the Digital Arts Festival (Jan. 15-16 16) and Redmond Lights, Redmond’s winter festival on Saturday, Dec. 5.
The Sonic Forest is located in the Center Plaza of Redmond Town Center, Northeast 76th Street & 166th Avenue Northeast in Redmond. For more information, visit www.redmondartsfestival.com or contact Mary Yelanjian, Arts Administrator at (425) 556-2316 or myelanjian@redmond.gov.
