Upcoming performances at Redmond’s SecondStory Repertory (SSR) have a little something for everyone.
From March 4-19 and May 6-21, the theater will be presenting “Split 2nd Improv,” a show that is never the same on any night. Crafted by suggestions from the audience, Split 2nd will be showing at 9 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays. The show offers two options for audiences: “Family Friendly Fridays” for all ages and “Sinful Saturdays” for adults only. Admission is $10. Groups of 10 or more can receive 10 percent off and groups of 20 or more can receive 20 percent off admission.
SSR is also offering improv workshops for anyone interested. The workshop is open to all ages.Also beginning March 4, the SSR Children’s Theater Series is presenting “The Boy Who Cried Wolf.” The book, music and lyrics, written by Geraldine Ann Snyder, are based on the popular Aesop fable about a boy who learns the hard way that honesty is the best policy. The show was produced by a special arrangement with The Dramatic Publishing Company of Woodstock, Ill. Performances are Fridays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. The show is appropriate for grade school-aged children with special all-ages performances for families with younger children on Sundays. Tickets are $10.
Finally, from April 1-30, SSR will be presenting “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.” The musical initially began as an improv comedy show but eventually became a Tony Award-winning Broadway show. The show is directed by David Hunter Koch with musical direction by Cathy Bleecker. Shows are Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. and Sundays April 10, 17 and 24 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $27.
