Teens who have performed in SecondStory Repertory’s summer teen musical productions over the past four years are presenting a cabaret show to raise funds for the struggling theatre at Redmond Town Center.
To keep the theatre open, the staff must raise $80,000 by the end of December. As of Dec. 8, they have received donations of $40,685.42, with pledges of another $11,000 to be collected “if we can make it to the $60,000 mark,” explained managing director Caitlin Frances.
The Teen Cabaret performance is at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13. Tickets are available for a suggested $15 donation. For tickets, call (425) 881-6777 or visit www.SecondStoryRep.org.
SecondStory Repertory’s summer teen musical program started in 2005 with “The Boyfriend” and has included “Into the Woods, Jr.,” “Godspell” and “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.” The teen cabaret will include musical numbers from past shows as well as pieces from musicals the teens hope to perform in years to come.
Participating teens include Sylvie Crowe, Olivia Ochoa, Laura McFarlane, Kaija Stern, Peter Castro, Taylor Stutz, Sarah Lavender, Sarah Oates, Tiffany Brezak, Catherine Khesin and Matt Eisenmann. Pianist and resident music director Kim Dare will provide accompaniment.
HOLIDAY SHOP AND DROP
As another fundraiser for SecondStory Repertory, Holiday Drop and Shop offers parents a chance to enjoy some uninterrupted shopping time at Redmond Town Center on Saturday, Dec. 19. Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., parents can bring children (ages 5-12) to SecondStory Repertory for two hours of supervised activities, at a cost of $15 per child. Space is limited and the service will be available on a “first-come, first-served” basis.
